Ayer racks up 37 in 91-81 win
He also has 19 rebounds; Macias scores 20

Chris Ayer tallied 37 points and Bobby Macias added 20 on Friday night, leading the L.A. Lightning to a 91-81 win over the San Fernando Sons in their final game of the 2012 Summer Pro League at Roybal Center.

Ayer, a 6-11 forward, grabbed 19 rebounds for the Lightning, which finished with a 4-2 record in the two-week summer league. Drew Housman had 14 assists and Roy Nam scored 10 for Los Angeles.

The Lightning won the board battle 39-25 with AJ Hardeman grabbing seven rebounds.

“I’m really pleased that our younger players got quality minutes,” said Lightning coach Ron Quarterman. “The great thing about Summer League is you can put them in the heat of battle and see how they respond.”

Ayer scored a season-high 41 earlier for the Lightning, who were making their debut in the 39th annual Summer Pro League. In his last 3 games, he racked up 111 points (37.0 avg.) and 37 rebounds (12.3).

“Chris put the guys on his shoulders and led the way,” Quarterman added. “I was proud of our effort.”
