Lightning to honor Public Safety workers
L.A. adds pair of 7-footers for weekend series

The Los Angeles Lightning hope to extend their three-game winning streak this weekend when they host the Nevada Pride on Friday and Saturday at Cal Lutheran. Tip-off for the IBL pro basketball games is 7:30 p.m.

The Lightning will hold a Public Safety Night on Saturday with local police, firefighters, law enforcement and emergency personnel receiving free admission.

Los Angeles, the defending IBL champion, is off to a 9-2 start behind the strong play of 6-8 guard Trayvon Lathan and Fred Vinson. Lathan is third in the IBL in scoring (27.0) and fourth in rebounds (10.7). Vinson, one of six former NBA players on the squad, is averaging 20.3 points and shooting 41.3 percent from 3-point range (59-144).

The Lightning have added over 14 feet of height in Adam Parada, a 7-footer who averaged 17.1 points and 12.1 rebounds last season, and 7-2 Michael Boone, who played at UC Davis two years ago.

L.A. will complete a 13-game homestand on June 18-19 when they hold benefit games at Royal and Agoura Highs with half the proceeds going to the schools' athletic programs. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.
